12. Chizu-shuku Snow Festival

Chizu-shuku used to be one of the post towns on Chizu Road, a historical route which leads to Kyoto and Edo. Even today, you can still find buildings of that age. Chizu-shuku has a lot of snow in winter. Chizu-shuku Snow Festival is held in early Feburary. At night, the town turns exotic with traditional houses lit up with snow and bamboo lanterns.
