Daisen is the highest mountain (1,729 meters) of Chugoku Region of Japan, and has been chosen as one of the greatest summits of the country. Mt. Daisen is part of the Daisen-Oki National Park. Daisen means "Big Mountain" in Japanese. As its name shows, Mt. Daisen can be even seen more than 50 kilometers far from the Japan's oldest city Izumo in Shimane Prefecture. The shape of Mt. Daisen looks different depending on which side of the mountain the viewer is standing on.
